The Role:

A role at Dorothy Perkins promises a fast paced, challenging and innovative working environment. As a Buyer at DP you will be responsible for overseeing the departments Buying team to develop and deliver innovative global product ranges, drive profit and influence the Brand's global product strategy.
You will work closely with the Design teams, Merchandising team, and our Technologists to ensure we capture the season’s trends and to create a commercial and credible range for the DP customer.

Day to Day:

  • Meet the needs of the DP customer, creating a balanced, innovative range, looking at price point, quality and standards.
  • Responsible for implementing the product strategies and financial plans for a specific product category reflecting the Brand strategy and translating this into action across all channels and third party partnerships.
  • Develop a sourcing and supplier strategy including negotiating price, delivery and payment terms.
  • You will be skilled at developing and maintaining strong working relationships with external third parties/suppliers.
  • Maintain excellent supplier relationships, liaising with them to drive product development and new product ideas, and share trading information.
  • You will take the lead for your department in product review meetings and you will be a strong and commercial decision maker – balancing immediate needs with longer term strategies.
  • You will advise on trade actions based on trade reports in season including repeats, cancellations, rescheduling, phasing etc.
  • You will be a strong and confident negotiator and negotiate transparent prices and delivery terms that protect and grow the margin.

  • You will inspire and lead the team, demonstrating great management skills and set stretching goals and targets.
