Job Title: Brand Assistant Accountant

Location: Leeds - Accounting Centre

Grade: 4

THE DEPARTMENT

The Brand Finance team supports the Arcadia brands in the production of monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations. The team has strong relationships with London Finance and works closely with all departments across the Accounting Centre to ensure accurate and timely information is provided to the brands decision makers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Ensure the timely and accurate production of the monthly Management Accounts, including the calculation of relevant accruals and prepayments.

 Assisting in the planning cycles.

 Attend and actively participate in monthly accounts reviews with both Leeds and London finance teams.

 Providing further analysis of costs to support reviews in both Leeds and London.

 Production of the Brand Legal Entity balance sheet, including analytical review for review by the Head of Financial Control & Reporting and Head of the Accounting Centre.

 Assist in the production of the brand specific statutory accounts including timely response to all year-end audit queries.

 Production of accurate balance sheet reconciliations to the required standard, with any risk exposure identified on a periodic basis.

 Be involved in and at times deliver ad hoc analysis and projects as required.

 Developing strong relationships with all key stakeholders including London Finance, Buying & Merchandising and the Retail Community.

 Ensure all issues/concerns are proactively escalated where necessary.

 Ensure all information and process documentation is prepared and processed in accordance with specific policies and procedures, to required deadlines and continuously updated.

 Identify opportunities for improved efficiency/effectiveness within processes and procedures to meet the needs of the business.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

 Preferably studying for a Finance qualification, but with some good relevant experience in a Finance or Accounting environment and a full working knowledge of double entry accounting.

 Professional, self-starter with ambition to progress within the Arcadia business.

 Knowledge of IT and ability to use complex formula’s within daily tasks to manipulate data.

 Strong numeracy and analytical skills with the ability to investigate queries thoroughly and accurately.

 Good written and oral communication skills and ability to present financial information at a senior level.

 Ability to recognise and adapt to changing priorities, whilst remaining focused.

 Ability to work positively with all team members and adapt style to suit individual needs.

 Willingness and desire to initiate and drive change.

 Detailed understanding of standard criteria for production of balance sheet reconciliations.
