An opportunity has arisen within the Export Department to support the international expansion programme bringing expertise and experience in re-examining how best to trade, follow through on new initiatives and ensure operations are managed in a planned, efficient and professional manner.

Reporting to the Head of Global Logistics the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the daily operation of the Export function ensuring that all export documentation and clearance instructions are created and submitted correctly and on time.


Export Operations

  • Managing the day-to-day international operation of Arcadia franchise, wholesale, USA shipments and shop fit / non-merchandised goods
  • Communication to all relevant parties and Authorities in all relevant territories and countries to ensure the smooth movement of goods
  • Managing Arcadia operations in line with prescribed Customs Authorisations, ensuring adherence to and the development of procedures and controls that demonstrate a compliant organisation
  • Proactively, demonstrating to the business good practice and standards required to move goods efficiently with a light touch from the Authorities
  • Assessing daily workload priorities within the Export team and adjusting resources as required and getting close to the Distribution Centres on performance and efficiency
  • Planning and organising resources against shipping and despatch schedules during busy periods and holidays to ensure services are maintained as required
  • Ensuring that intra-stat declarations are submitted for European despatches
  • Ensuring that daily, weekly and monthly reporting deadlines are met by the team and checking and submitting activity and volume reports in a timely and accurate manner
  • Anticipating, researching and reporting on future changes in Export laws and in local territory practices and ensure the knowledge is factored into the planning of the department’s own resources and procedures
  • Reviewing and ensuring compliance of relevant export customs procedures as well as conducting periodic reviews of the procedures to ensure that they are current and are legally compliant
  • Act as a point of escalation for issues that cannot be resolved by the Co-ordinators
  • Resolving queries from International, forwarders, the Distribution Centres and Brands on Export related topics and keeping them informed of any issues relating to the movement of their goods through Customs
  • Using initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in export activity and procedures
  • Ensuring that the team maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Pick and Despatch Schedules and maintain controls and procedures across all areas
  • Continue to support, develop and motivate team members through competences, performance objectives and regular reviews

New Business Implementation

  • Liaise with internal and external parties to ensure the Logistics function can support new business ahead of contract completion
  • Assess impact on Distribution Centre operations, the Export department comprehending any systems restrictions
  • Review all International business contracts ahead of signature confirming support where required
  • Develop plans to integrate new business and the required processes including communications and instruction to relevant parties (Partners, forwarders, distribution centres, internally)
  • Deputise for the Head of Global Logistics in managing the department
  • Support USA shipments, new business and projects carried out by the Department
  • Any ad hoc work required


  • Extensive experience of working with Import/Export documentation and liaising with Customs Authorities, Distribution Centres, Freight Forwarders, International specialists and partners
  • Full appreciation of key Customs accreditations and Authorisations – AEO (Authorised Economic Operator), CFSP (Customs Freight Simplified Procedures), Customs Warehousing, deferment accounts, preference etc
  • Excellent people management skills and experience in directing a large team and their development needs
  • Strong organisation/planning skills with the ability to communicate and liaise at all levels of the business
  • Ability to perform under pressure and operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Accurate, methodical, thorough, numerate and analytical
  • Intermediate or advanced level in Word, Excel and Powerpoint
